In Moldova, the minimum wage has been increased by 25% - up to 260 euro

According to a previously adopted government decision, as of January 1, 2024, the minimum wage is set at 5,000 lei (260 euro) per month with an average monthly working time of 169 hours, which amounts to 29.58 lei per hour. Prior to this, the minimum wage in Moldova, in both the real and budget sectors, was the same, amounting to 4,000 lei per month with an average monthly working time of 169 hours (23.67 lei per hour).

Sick leave compensation will no longer depend on the length of work experience

Starting from January 1, in Moldova, sick leave payments will no longer depend on the length of work experience. Now, employers/individual entrepreneurs will provide benefits for temporary work disability caused by common illnesses or accidents unrelated to work, regardless of the duration of the contribution payment period.

Customs Code comes into effect

As of January 1, 2024, the new Customs Code has come into effect. This legislative act aims to improve the quality of services provided to economic agents by the customs authority, reduce costs and delays related to the declaration of goods, and mitigate the risks of fraud and integrity incidents through online monitoring of customs operations and the reduction of paper-based customs procedures.
