Starting from January 1, in Moldova, sick leave payments will no longer depend on the length of work experience.
Now, employers/individual entrepreneurs will provide benefits for temporary work disability caused by common illnesses or accidents unrelated to work, regardless of the duration of the contribution payment period.
In simpler terms, work experience is now irrelevant. Therefore, there is no need to submit documents confirming insurance tenure to the employer for determining the corresponding benefits ("sick leave").
During the first 5 calendar days, the employer pays the temporary work disability benefits, after which the territorial branch of the National Social Insurance Fund takes over. It is worth noting that throughout the year, the employer can pay for no more than 15 calendar days of sick leave. For example, if you were sick for 5 days in January, March, and May covered by the employer, if you fall ill in the fall, the benefits will be paid from the state social insurance budget from the first day.
The amount of benefits paid by the employer is set within the range of 75% of the employee's salary.
